Turkey Trot and Little Gobbler Run
Dear Isabella,
This morning I got up and ran an 8K. You also participated. You ran the Little Gobbler Run. You were the smallest child there. You looked so cute in your Puma track suit and tennis shoes. You even sported the cutest little ponytail. I'm sure that you're going to love running some day. Sadly, you didn't love it this morning. You cried and got scared, so we ran the race together.
Actually, you love doing EVERYTHING with me. This morning you wore an outfit like mine, wore your hair like mine, put on way too much blush (unlike me) , took a bath with me, ate lunch while seated on my lap, stole some sips of my Diet Coke, and wore just a necklace just like mine.
You are the sweetest little mini-me.
I love you.

Fantasy of Trees
Dear Isabella,
Last night you were the cutest little girl ever! We took you to the Fantasy of Trees Gala. You LOVED it. You took all of it in -- the Motown band, the mashed potato bar, a glowing carousel, lots of little girls spinning in beautiful dresses, and the sparkly trees. We bought your annual ornament and had a family picture taken. You've been staring at the ornament (a family of 3 snowpeople) all day.
Today I got to leave school at 1:00 for the Thanksgiving holiday. I told your teacher, Ms. Donna, to keep you awake. When I arrived at the school, I could hear you giggling as all of the other children slept. As soon as you saw me, you ran to hug and kiss me. You are very lovable right now. Please stay this way.
Gotta go! I'm running the Turkey Trot and you're running the Little Gobbler Run tomorrow morning. After, we're going to have Thankskibby. Yum!

Milestone!!
Dear Isabella,
On November 18, 2010, you told me something that I didn't know. We were leaving Oak Ridge Nursery School and you saw your friend Katie. You pointed and exclaimed, "Katie!" This was really exciting. You haven't ever called a friend by name before. I later asked your teacher if her name was Katie, and yes, it was.
You are growing so quickly.

Potty Training
You are on your way! You had 4 successful potties today. Each time you go, you get a sticker and an opportunity to wash your hands. This has proven to be very powerful motivation.
You're becoming such a big girl! I can't believe that you've been walking for nearly a year and that you were still breastfeeding just 3 months ago. (You self weaned at 19 months.) Each day you are experimenting with new words. It's just amazing.
Tonight we watched the Auburn/Georgia game. You shook your finger and yelled, "No!" at the Georgia offense when they were just a few yards from scoring a touchdown.
Adorable.

Dear Isabella,
Last night we surprised Daddy in his office. You were dressed in a preppy argyle sweater and mary janes. However, to keep it interesting, I paired it with a hot pink tutu-like skirt. Everyone in the newsroom declared that they wanted Isabella Shory's wardrobe. I know that I'm not a perfect mommy, but I want you to know that I always dressed you VERY well. Daddy says this is really important because people ooh and ahh over you and this is good for your self esteem. I think Daddy likes showing you off to everyone. You really are adorable. People in stores and in church stop to stare at you all of the time. You really are a stunning child. I'm not kidding.
Anyway, while we were in the newsroom, I asked you to show everyone what you learned on the gym bus. You stood on top of one of the desks and did the most beautiful little arabesque. We all giggled. You then proudly showed off your big girl panties -- Yo Gabba Gabba panties. You were very proud.
This morning we got up to let Daddy sleep in a little. We're kind of loud with our singing, dancing, playing, and cartoon watching, so I'm not sure how much sleep Daddy actually got.

Giggles
Dear Isabella,
You were hilarious tonight. We made chili for Daddy and you loved it. You giggled as I chopped the hamburger in little pieces in the frying pan. We both danced like it was drum music. Then, you added Good and Plenty candies to the concoction. We giggled about that, too.
See? My cheerful girl is back.

Not a Lot of Fun :(
Dear Isabella,
Things have been a little tense at the Shory house. You've been in pretty fussy mood, so Daddy and I are having to be extra patient... with you and each other. We think that you are getting some molars. We HOPE that you are getting molars. Surely this angry little person couldn't possibly be our sweet daughter! You wake up angry, scream "MINE!!!" all day long, and put up a pretty good fight when we put you to bed at night. I found my first gray hairs a few months ago, but I bet that I get a LOT more in the near future. Even though you have been quite fussy, we really don't get mad. We love you and know that this is temporary. You've always been quite advanced, and it looks like you're starting the terrible twos just a little early.
We love you very, very much.

Roll Tide! War Eagle!
Dear Isabella,
You like football. I think that's kind of strange for such a small person. You love watching the action on the TV and watching Daddy's crazy reactions to the good and not-so-good plays. Daddy and I take turns dressing you for the games. Sometimes you wear crimson and white; other days you wear orange and blue.
You also like the tradition of eating pizza at halftime.

Whew! What a week!
Dearest Isabella,
I'm so sorry that I've missed a few days. Please don't think that I've forgotten about you. In fact, it's the opposite. You've been a little (OK a lot) demanding this week and this is the first chance I've had to catch up.
Halloween: You were the sweetest ladybug ever. You loved trick-or-treating and eating candy. In fact, you wanted to go back out on November 1st. You had a complete meltdown when I told you we couldn't go back out.
Wednesday: We took you to the Tennessee to see Yo Gabba Gabba. You were pretty scared at the start, but after a few minutes you loved it! Daddy bought you a cute flashing light and you had a blast with it.
It's now 7:45 on a Friday night and you are exhausted. It was a big day at school. You did gym bus and had a pizza party. I'm going to stop typing and put you to bed.
