Last night we took you to see Princesses on Ice. Oh, my. You LOVED it. I don't think that you blinked more than a handful of times during the entire show. You loved the skating, costumes, and special effects. It was a blast. And, you looked super cute. You had on a furry leopard coat, black leggings, cool black boots, and a matching fur headband and handbag.
Today we took you to the Disney Store. We got there in time for story time. You really enjoyed that. While we were there, you bought a book about Beauty and the Beast, some princess figurines, and the Beauty and the Beast film. I read you the book before nap today. You clutched your Belle figurine as I read. After you wake up from your nap, (You are sleeping right now.) we are going to watch the movie. I can't wait to see if you like it.
Nap time was very stressful. Your blankie was in the was and you refused to sleep without it. When it was finally dry, you agreed to go to bed, but you screamed for more than an hour while it was drying.
I really do love you more each day.

Dear Isabella,
This week has really flown by! We have been so busy playing, eating out, and just having fun. Tuesday, you and I ended up at the TV station. There was a lot of crazy weather, and even though Daddy wasn't working, he felt the need to go into the station and monitor things. You and I went to the Peacock Cafe and ate a bunch of snacks from the vending machines. Finally, we drove home in some awful rain and stopped off at Chick-fil-A and let you play. You LOVE the slide, but you are still a little too small to climb the ladder. You flirted with some cute bigger girls, and they helped you up.
Wednesday we took you to Big Ed's Pizza. You love watching them make the pizzas while you snack on a plate full of mozzarella. You ate two whole pieces! Just as much as me!
Today Daddy went back to work, but you and I got to stay home again. We started the day at Bookworm Babies at the library. You were so cute. You weren't too sure about singing and joining in with the other kids. You mostly stayed on my lap... well, until they turned on the bubble machine. Then you ran around like a wild woman. After your usual 2 hour nap, we went jogging with the jogging stroller. We cut our run a little short (only about 2 miles) because it so windy. Finally, we went grocery shopping at Target. You were tired and cranky, so I tried to hurry, but you did make me laugh before we left. You found a plastic orange pumpkin and filled it with about 15 candy bars while we were waiting in line at the checkout counter. You were so proud. I talked you in to buying just the bucket and 2 packs of fruit snacks instead.
Dancing with the Stars is definitely your favorite show. I was humming the theme song and you joined in singing like crazy. You, Daddy, and I all put on our robes and watched part of the show. You LOVE your little robe with polka dots. You also love clapping for the performances and you even started doing your own version of the "paso doble" while we were watching. It was so cute.

Family Day
Dear Isabella,
Today we all played all day long! We had kind of a slow start -- you woke up at 2:00 AM and wanted to watch TV, so we watched the Wiggles. That show is terrible, but you love it. The 2:00 AM wake-up call made us move a little slowly, but we finally got going at about 9:00. By the way, 9:00 is a really late morning for you!
We started the day with breakfast at the house. Next, we went to the library and the mall. Then, we went to Puleo's for lunch. Finally, we headed to Pigeon Forge. We stopped at a very tacky kids' amusement park where you rode a carousel, swings, and a train. You LOVED the train and the carousel, but you hated the swings. The man operating the swing ride had to hit the stop button because you were getting so upset.
You were really funny all day. I can't explain how much you change from week to week. It's amazing how quickly you are acquiring language, preferences, and the sweetest personality.

Robes and Zombies
Dear Isabella,
We went to a pre-game dinner with Emily, SuperGreg, Justin, and Daddy. We were dining at LaCosta in Market Square. They have excellent seafood, but you had chicken fingers. Anyway, there was a zombie festival going on in the middle of the square. You didn't really care or think that people covered in blood were odd. You just hugged and kissed everyone -- you are quite a little lover.
You and I have similar robes. Last night we both wore our robes while snuggling and watching the Alabama football game. Daddy was at the game with Uncle Justin, so it was girls' night at Casa Shory. You loved feeling our robes. Each time you did it, you just giggled.
Before we went to bed, you needed to eat a few pieces of your Boo at the Zoo candy. It was a pretty quiet night at home for us.

Boo at the Zoo!
Dear Isabella,
Last night we took you to Boo at the Zoo. You wore your ladybug costume and you were adorable!! You understood the concept of trick or treating after the first stop. You loved it!! You were most excited by goldfish crackers and M&Ms. You also loved riding the shuttle/train from the parking lot to the zoo.
You are becoming so verbal. You shock Daddy and I with new words each day. Last night you identified an elephant, a car, a train, a pumpkin, a cat, and Dora. It's amazing.
This morning you woke up at about 6:00 AM. Daddy brought you into bed with us. We asked you if you enjoyed the zoo, the candy, the car, and the train. You squealed, "Yeh!" each time. It was hilarious.
You are so much fun, but I think that you are growing up too quickly.

Tired!
Dear Isabella,
Toddlers and mommies need their sleep. You went to bed about 30 minutes early tonight. I'm going to bed early, too. I can't wait to read some more Elmo books with you tomorrow.

Dear Isabella,
I think you are fantastic at just about everything. However, there are two areas in which you could improve -- sleeping and eating.
You don't really like sleeping through the night -- still. You generally wake up at 2:00 screaming. I run in hug you, offer you a glass of water, and watch a little TV with you, and you go back to sleep -- eventually.
You also don't eat much. This worries me. You might eat a little fruit and a couple of crackers for dinner. Perhaps some cheese. You really don't like meat... at all.
Last night, you slept through the night. Tonight, you ate a lot of pasta, crackers, meat, tomato sauce, ice cream, peas, cheese, and craisins. I'm so happy!

Mine!
Dear Isabella,
Mine! Mine! Mine! This is what all of the kids on the playground heard today whenever they tried to play with the slide, swings or monkey bars.

Sick Day
Dear Isabella,
Today I stayed home from work with you. You were running a fever all weekend and this morning you looked too pitiful to go to school. Luckily, you respond very well to ibuprofen and within a few hours, you were feeling just fine.
It was nice to be able to stay home. We were both really worn out. You were having a hard time getting to sleep last night. At 2:00 in the morning, you and I were driving around. I was hoping the car would make you sleepy. You, however, were having the time of your life giggling and pointing to things as we drove around.
I took you to Dr. Forsee just to make sure that all was OK. She checked your ears, throat, etc. -- nothing. She suggested getting a urine sample to be sure that you didn't have a UTI, but it was impossible to get a urine sample from you. I gave you tons of water, tickled you, and begged you to pee in a cup. Nothing happened. Dr. Forsee assured me that she doubted it was a UTI anyway. We went home and you took a 3 hour nap. You woke up feeling very refreshed. I put you in the jogging stroller, we ran to the park, you played like crazy on the slides and swings, and we met Daddy for dinner at Earnie's Fish House. It was a very nice evening.
Right now, Daddy is tucking you in. I'm hoping we all get some rest tonight.

Dear Isabella,
We had a quiet weekend at home. You were a little under the weather (either you have a cold or your two year molars are trying to make an appearance) and we just played around the house.
One thing that you really enjoy right now is cooking. You made bacon and macaroni and cheese this weekend. You love measuring, patting, and turning dials. It's adorable.

Dancing with the Stars
Dear Isabella,
I'm wondering if you'll love to dance. Tonight you cuddled with me and watched three hours of my favorite reality television show, Dancing with the Stars. It was really, really nice to share something with you. Each time the dancers completed their routines, you gave them a hearty round of applause.
Sometimes I want to stop time and stay in a moment with you for a little bit longer.

Dear Isabella,
Your costume came in the mail today. I'm really excited about dressing you up as Little Bo Peep. Daisy and Angel received their sheep costumes. Poor girls. You were really excited about your staff and you kept poking them with it.
This should be an interesting Halloween. I'll be sure to post pictures.
Love you,
Mommy

You Like Us!
Dear Isabella,
Daddy is in Washington, D.C., today for a business trip. He and I are really tired because you decided to wake up at 2:00 A.M. this morning. We're not sure if you had a nightmare or if you just missed us. At any rate, we let you sleep with us and we all got a little more sleep. I actually enjoyed that early morning cuddle session. You still have that wonderful baby scent that makes me want to bury my nose in your hair.
When we got home today, you cried and looked so very sad because Daddy was not home. You actually raced down the driveway and headed toward the street screeching, "Daddy! Daddy!" It was cute and pitiful. I realized that you really do like us and that you really do enjoy spending time with us. You're too small to manipulate us or to pretend to miss us.
I'm so glad that you like us. We LOVE you.

Daddy/Daughter Day
Dear Isabella,
Oak Ridge Nursery School was closed today, so Daddy took a day off and the two of you played. Daddy wanted to take you for a bike ride, but he was unable to rent a bike trailer -- it was too late in the season. Anyway, the two of you had a fun time playing at the playground, napping, and eating at Mr. Gatti's Pizza Buffet. Daddy said you ate 4 slices of pizza!
When I got home, you were still napping. I guess that Daddy wore you out. Daddy told me that you two had fun. However, he said that you yelled at all of the other kids on the playground and screamed, "Mine!" whenever they tried to use the swings.
Later, we made a poster for your class. It's super cute and filled with pictures of you and stickers of cupcakes and flowers. You loved it and just stared at it.

"Puhple" Shoes
Dear Isabella,
I've always loved you. But I must be honest and tell you that you were not always a lot of company. You cried a lot, didn't sleep through the night, and didn't want to watch Dancing with the Stars with me. Suddenly all of that has changed. You are SO MUCH FUN!
Today I took you shopping at Kohl's. While I was ordering a wedding gift from the kiosk, I took my eyes off of you for a few seconds. When I turned to see you, you were nude (except for a diaper) in the middle of the store. Your top and pants were around your ankles, and you were VERY proud of yourself. A few minutes later, I was looking at some shirts. The shirt that I was looking at was gray and sort of like the shirt that I was wearing. You pointed at that shirt and my shirt and said, "Mommy!" and giggled. I think that you were telling me that I didn't need two of the same gray shirts. A few minutes later, I was looking at shoes. You yelled, "SHHHHHooooos!" You kicked off your shoes and demanded a new pair of "puhple" shoes. It was hilarious. Of course you got the new "puhple" shoes. You were very proud of them. Daddy laughed like crazy when I told him the story.

Isabella Michaelyn
Dear Isabella,
I loved you the moment I saw you. In fact, I loved you way before then. I've loved you for as long as I can remember. Whenever I dreamed about being a mom, I always pictured myself with a little girl named Bella. Grandma Sawicki always called me Bella, and I so wanted a little girl to call Bella. I know you're not supposed to hope for a boy or a girl, but I wanted a little girl so badly. Daddy did, too. We even told people when I was pregnant that we were secretly hoping for a little girl. We really shouldn't have done that. Thank goodness you weren't a boy. We found out on August 17, 2008, that you were, in fact, a girl.
Daddy and I don't always agree on everything. (I hope this doesn't surprise you!) But, we totally agreed on your name. Isabella, that's it. We did have a hard time with your middle name though; I hope you like it. One afternoon I went into the tub with a baby name book, and I summoned Daddy into the bathroom and we weren't allowed to leave until we came up with your middle name. We found it rather quickly. It took less than an hour. We kept your names secret, though. By the end, I think most people had guessed that your name would be Isabella, but nobody knew about your middle name, Michaelyn.
Another thing about your name, we haven't been calling you Bella. We call you Izzy, Boo, Boo Boo, Izaboo, and Izzard. Those are not very attractive names. I'm sorry. I really try to call you Isabella most of the time, but one of these other names slips out at least 50% of the time.
